Chapter 257 – The church of Araysla in the capital

“Hey, is that man the one everyone…”

“Quiet! He can hear you!”

“Did you see the dragon in the courtyard!? It was pure white…”

I can hear young nuns noisily talking to each other.

Maybe landing here directly with Seilook was too showy.
Roa told me where the church is, and saw a courtyard that seemed like it would be a great landing spot, but maybe that wasn’t such a good idea.

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting.
My name is Kahelone.
Come this way.”

Before I know it, the young nuns are suddenly gone, and another nun stands in front of us.

It’s like I know a lot about this, but judging by her uniform, I would say the woman calling herself Kahelone is a high ranking nun.

She turns around and starts walking before we can return her greeting.
Is she just an impatient person? Or is she silently protesting because we flew a dragon in here all of a sudden?

Roa and I look at each other, but then follow Kahelone.

“I apologize for coming here so suddenly.
I…”

I start speaking as we walk, but Kahelone raises her hand to stop me.

“Later.”

Her short answer gives me the impression that she’s used to people obeying her.
I get that from Kalin too sometimes.

She doesn’t look too different from the young nuns making all that fuss earlier, but I see she’s not someone to be underestimated.

I peek over at Roa again.

I see magic elements in both her eyes.
She’s moving her eyes little by little, and eventually notices me looking her way and nods.

She’s telling me that, at the very least, there are suspicious people within her range that seem to be spying on us.
Is the church of Araysla shadier than I thought?

As I think to myself that we should be careful with what we say, we reach a room.

“Here?”

Asks Roa with a puzzled tone after following Kahelone inside.

I also enter and start looking around.
It’s clearly a private room.

I thought we were being taken to a reception room, or a lounge or something along those lines.

It’s a simple room, just as you would expect from a nun.
But the more I look around, the more cute things I see dotted here and there.
It’s clearly Kahelone’s, but I didn’t expect her to like this sort of thing.

Kahelone takes one wooden stool from under a desk and another from under a bed like she’s telling us to sit down.
There are faint drawings of animals playing carved into the legs of the stools.

Were those done by hand? They look pretty good.

Kahelone sees we’ve sat down, and sits on the bed, before slowly opening her mouth.
