Westobou Festival, Augusta GA

Augusta, Georgia is known for its annual Masters golf tournament held in April and for being the cultural medium home to James Brown, Jessye Norman and Wycliffe Gordon. One of many annual events located in Augusta is the arts festival, Westobou. There is something for everyone at the Westobou Festival whether its contemporary theatrical performances, listening to jazz or merely just strolling through gallery exhibitions!
Started in 2005, the Westobou Festival was conceived to spotlight local, regional and nationally-recognized artists to Augusta with categories of dance, music, visual art, spoken word and film. The goal of Wesbotou is to reflect the nature of community through its programming. The festival used to be carried over 10 days, but after recent debate, the board decided to cut the festival down to five days to create a more "cohesive-feeling" festival.

The festival includes over 50 rain or shine performances from influential artists with give headlining events (one for each night of the festival). The festival is scheduled for every October at the Parade Grounds at the Old Richmond Academy building.
Tickets for the festival are available either at performing venues at the Westobou Festival office (965 Broad Street, Augusta) and student tickets are available to Westobou programming presented by and at Augusta State University. There are no passes for the festival, however, are sold on an individual programming basis. Volunteering for the event is also available by either emailing [email protected] or contacting their office at 706-755-2878.
