Bristol Baby!

It is hands-down, the best show in modern NASCAR racing, and is considered by many to be one of the best shows in all sports. Nicknamed Thunder Valley, Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) is the most popular venue, and one of the most sought after tickets in all motor sports. For two weekends each year, nearly 200 thousand people flock to this small town in Northeast Tennessee. For those four days out of each year, Bristol becomes the fifth largest city in the state. The spring race falls early enough in the season so that the weather is almost always perfect.

TurboThrust Live!

The Show is actually tonight not tomorrow

Finally a band has come along that thrashes so hard they have been banned in Utah and Vermont.  TurboThrust exudes so much raw sexuality, that women have been satisfied by a simple wink from bassist Big Willie Liles.  They are bringing their fist pumping, panty dropping act this Thursday to the Music Row Bar and Grill. Its the new place behind Satco where that oyster bar used to be.

Dave Matthews Band at Vanderbilt Stadium

Pretty much every college student in the South East has grown up listening to Dave and if they were lucky they have probably seen a few shows. Dave used to come to Nashville every year to play at Starwood Amphitheater, but it closed down a few years ago. That was the biggest venue near Music City so it is great that Vanderbilt Stadium has stepped up to fill its' shoes.

Girls of the SEC

Most sports websites have at some point ranked the SEC schools in terms of hot girls, well now it is my turn.  I feel that my list will be much more precise due in a large part to the 8 years of research I have poured into this article.  My five years at UGA, followed up by three in Atlanta, and now 6 months in Nashville at Vanderbilt puts me in a unique position to really give an accurate portrayal.

Let's Wear a Purple Pimp Suit to an LSU Game!

If you have ever been to a LSU football game, in Baton Rouge or otherwise, you might see a recurring outfit either in the stadium or while tailgating.  I am talking about the purple pimp suits that these people wear.  What the heck is up with that?  I mean, your colors are already the super tough purple and yellow, so why go and make yourself look even more foolish by wearing a purple pimp

Vanderbilt Rites of Spring

Vanderbilt’s Rites of Spring concert, or “Rites” as VU students like to call it, is an annual concert series hosted on campus to celebrate…you guessed it…the start of spring.

It is hosted on Alumni Lawn which also plays host to Vanderbilt Graduation and other large events. It is the perfect area because it is in the center of campus and surrounded by picturesque trees. In the past, Rites has hosted big name bands creating an excuse for students to have a 3-day party instead of studying for finals.

It draws a huge crowd

Tennessee Titans Game

If the Titans are doing well,  then tickets are tough to come by. Check eBay and Stub Hub, but if you still can’t find one in your price range don’t be afraid to try to scalp one. If you walk across the James Robertson Pkwy Bridge you will find the scalpers. There are tons of tailgates all around the stadium which is known as LP Field. Even if you're not prepared, you can try your luck with some southern hospitality and ask for some food.

Rafting the Ocoee River

Ocoee Rafting
In southeast Tennessee, about an hour outside of Chattanooga, TN, there is a river with class IV rapids and a history of Cherokee and Creek Indians, TVA allowing commercialization of the river in 1977, and most notably the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Slalom events. 1977 marked the beginning of commercial raft companies taking paying participants down the raging river.

  • Vanderbilt University is a private university in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Founded in 1873, the university is named for shipping and rail magnate "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided Vanderbilt its initial $1 million endowment despite having never been to the South. The Commodore hoped that his gift and the greater work of the university would help to heal the sectional wounds inflicted by the Civil War.

    Vanderbilt Today

The university's undergraduate programs are highly selective: in 2008, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions accepted 23% of applicants. In its most recent annual comparison of admissions selectivity, The Princeton Review gave Vanderbilt a rating of 98 out of 99. The freshmen in the Class of 2012 had standardized test scores that were well above average: the interquartile range (25th percentile-75th percentile) of SAT scores was 1380-1540 under the old scale, while the interquartile range of ACT scores was 31-34.

With the exception of the off-campus observatory, all of Vanderbilt's facilities are situated on a 330-acre plot in the heart of Nashville, only 1.5 miles from downtown. Despite its urban surroundings, the campus itself is a national arboretum and features over 300 species of trees and shrubs.

Greeks are an active part of the social scene on and off campus, and the university is home to 21 fraternities and 14 sororities. As of 2006–2007, 35% of men were members of fraternities and 49% of women were members of sororities, or 42% of the total undergraduate population.

    Athletics

Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference's only private school. With fewer than 6,600 undergraduates, the school is also the smallest in the conference; the SEC's next-smallest school, the University of Mississippi, has nearly twice as many undergraduate students.

Men's and women's tennis and men's and women's basketball are traditionally Vanderbilt's strongest sports, with the more recently founded women's lacrosse and bowling programs as well as the long-standing men's baseball program experiencing moderate national success. After enjoying success in the first half of the 20th century, the football program has struggled in more recent times. However, they began the 2008 season 5-0 and went on to play in their first Bowl game in over 20 years. content via wikipedia

If you walk across the James Robertson Pkwy Bridge you will find the scalpers. There are tons of tailgates all around the stadium which is known as LP Field. Even if you're not prepared, you can try your luck with some southern hospitality and ask for some food.

  • If you have the money and are visiting Vanderbilt then this is the place to stay. The Marriott is located right next to campus and lots of the rooms actually overlook the VU football field. • This Hampton Inn is nice and is on-par with other Hampton Inns around the country.

  • Pretty much every college student in the South East has grown up listening to Dave and if they were lucky they have probably seen a few shows.         * OVERVIEW

  • If you have ever been to a LSU football game, in Baton Rouge or otherwise, you might see a recurring outfit either in the stadium or while tailgating.  I am talking about the purple pimp suits that these people wear.  What the heck is up with that?  I mean, your colors are already the super tough purple and yellow, so why go and make yourself look even more foolish by wearing a purple pimplsu pimp by bargas

  • It is hands-down, the best show in modern NASCAR racing, and is considered by many to be one of the best shows in all sports.
