Bristol Baby!

It is hands-down, the best show in modern NASCAR racing, and is considered by many to be one of the best shows in all sports. Nicknamed Thunder Valley, Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) is the most popular venue, and one of the most sought after tickets in all motor sports. For two weekends each year, nearly 200 thousand people flock to this small town in Northeast Tennessee. For those four days out of each year, Bristol becomes the fifth largest city in the state. The spring race falls early enough in the season so that the weather is almost always perfect.

Girls of the SEC

Most sports websites have at some point ranked the SEC schools in terms of hot girls, well now it is my turn.  I feel that my list will be much more precise due in a large part to the 8 years of research I have poured into this article.  My five years at UGA, followed up by three in Atlanta, and now 6 months in Nashville at Vanderbilt puts me in a unique position to really give an accurate portrayal.

Let's Wear a Purple Pimp Suit to an LSU Game!

If you have ever been to a LSU football game, in Baton Rouge or otherwise, you might see a recurring outfit either in the stadium or while tailgating.  I am talking about the purple pimp suits that these people wear.  What the heck is up with that?  I mean, your colors are already the super tough purple and yellow, so why go and make yourself look even more foolish by wearing a purple pimp

SAE Boxing Tournament

Ignore the date at the top: It was the weekend of the 5th-7th and was Awesome, so it is still posted so you can gloat in the aftermath!

SAE Boxing tourney is one of the oldest and largest fraternity events in the country.

The three day event attracts 3,000+ students from all over the south east. It has been going on annually for the last 28 years occurring in the last week of February or the first week of March. The tickets are $10 a night or $25 for the 3 nights and the proceeds normally raise over $70,000 for charity.

Ready, set, road trip!

Thinking about taking a road trip but not quite sure where to start?  Read on to find helpful hints and tips on how to ensure a fun, carefree trip and a few tid bits about my own road trip from New York to Florida.

Exploring Gatlinburg

It’s always a great time of year to visit Gatlinburg.  The Christmas lights are always up and twinkling, the mountain is open, and it takes less than an hour to get there from Knoxville, so a Gatlinburg adventure can be done is less than 36 hours, which is all it needs.  It’s a quaint place, it’s beautiful, and there’s a lot to do. Fun Stuff to Do on the Strip

Hiking in the Smoky Mountains: Gatlinburg is more than just tourist traps

I grew up in Nashville. That means for many of my formative years I was another one of those kids who went along on the annual family pilgrimage to one tacky place—Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Now, there’s nothing innately wrong with Gatlinburg if you’re in to bear memorabilia, putt-putt golf and bedazzled big haired women crooning country hits of the 1960’s.

Volapalooza

Volapalooza is a free concert hosted at Fiji Island in Fraternity Park at The University of Tennessee. This annual event normally takes place at the end of the school year and draws about 1,000 UT students for the night of fun. In the past the All Campus Events committee has been able to bring in some pretty big bands like Ben Folds, Cake, and Dashboard Confessional.

  • Overview

The University of Tennessee is one of the coolest and wildest college towns in the South. It is famous for being a football school with a great social scene. It is located right at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and is only an hour away from gorgous hikes. Most of the Students that go to UT are from the state and are beneficiaries of the Hope lottery scholarship.

    Football
    Neyland Stadium
The Volunteers were coached by Phillip Fulmer and play at Neyland Stadium, which averages over 107,000 fans per game. On November 3, 2008, Phillip Fulmer held a press conference indicating that he would be stepping down as head coach at the end of the year. This decision is speculated to have stemmed from poor University support because of a disappointing season. Lane Kiffin was officially announced as the new head coach of the Vols on December 1, 2008. Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning and the late NFL Hall of Fame player Reggie White are among the numerous NFL athletes to start their careers at the University of Tennessee.

    Men's Basketball

The men's basketball program is headed by Bruce Pearl. Through his guidance, the men's program has been revitalized and claimed the 2005–2006 SEC East Title and closed the season with a 22-8 record and a NCAA Tournament berth. In 2007, the Vols made the NCAA tourney for the second straight year, making it to the Sweet Sixteen. In 2008 the Vols claimed their first outright SEC regular season championship in 41 years. One of the highlights of the 2008 season came when number 2 UT knocked off top-ranked Memphis, who was then undefeated, to claim the number one ranking in the nation-only to lose it in their next game, three nights later at Vanderbilt. In men's basketball, the most important rivalries are with Kentucky, Florida and cross-state rivals Vanderbilt and Memphis.

    Thompson Boling

    Women's Basketball

Tennessee has the strongest women's basketball team at the college level, having won eight NCAA Division I titles (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008), the most in women's college basketball history. The Lady Volunteers are led by Pat Summitt, who is the all-time winningest basketball coach in NCAA history, having won 990 games as of December 16, 2008. Coach Summitt also boasts a 100 percent graduation rate for all players who finish their career at UT. Former Tennessee Lady Vols basketball star Candace Parker went No. 1 in the WNBA draft and is being called the possibly best woman to ever play basketball.Smokey Mascot

    Smokey

Smokey is the mascot of the University of Tennessee sports teams. These teams, named "The Volunteers" and nicknamed "the Vols", use both a live and a costumed version of Smokey.

There is an actual Bluetick Coonhound mascot, Smokey IX, which leads the Vols on the field for football games. The hound is cared for by the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity on the University of Tennessee campus. There is also a costumed mascot that appears at every Vols game and has won several mascot championships. content via wikipedia

  • Ski Beech is located 20 miles from Boone, NC, 80 miles from Asheville, NC, 150 miles from Knoxville, TN and 180 miles from Chapel Hill, NC.

  • It is hands-down, the best show in modern NASCAR racing, and is considered by many to be one of the best shows in all sports.
