Each beautifully restored guest room contains a unique collection of interesting antiques as well as a private bath. Some have whirlpools and gas fireplaces. A leisurely full breakfast is served in the sunny breakfast room.

A Free Room, Where Else?

The best places to stay are in the casino hotels.  Basically, plan on staying wherever your highest rolling buddy plans to do the majority of his gambling.  After he has lost or won a few hundred, have him ask the pit boss for a complementary room.  It often pays to try and get in good with the pit boss and then go ahead and let him know that if you can get a complementary room, then you guys will plan on staying another night…regardless of your intention to do so.

They have a large dance floor and either a live band or DJ all night.

34° 49' 1.722" N, 90° 18' 51.1956" W

Only the locals know that this is the famous restaurant that is mentioned in the hit Southern song Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn.  Cohn sings of "catfish on the table, and gospel in the air", and he is singing of the little known Delta secret The Hollywood Cafe.  Located just 5 miles from Tunica in Robinsonville, the Hollywood will serve up some of the best southern soul food in the Delta, all the while you are enjoying the atmosphere of a turn of the century plantation commissary.  .  The Hollywood is a local favorite and has been on the Travel Channel several times for

Tunica, MS

34° 42' 7.5132" N, 90° 22' 48.7344" W

The Blue and White is truly a Tunica landmark.  It opened in 1924 and originally was owned by the Pure Oil Company and that is how it got its name.  The restaurant has changed hands several times over the years, but has never closed its doors because of faithful customers who can't get enough fried green tomatoes or delta fried catfish.  The cooks have passed down recipes for true southern cooking and everyday serve up the best soul food in the Delta. Breakfast is served all day and the Banana Pudding is out of this world. Located 12 miles south of casino area on hwy 61.

Buy Her Something With All Those Winnings

1251 Place

Store that has very cute affordable gifts, purses, jewelry, dresses, ect.  The store is located on Main Street downtown and is in an old store that has been remodeled into a trendy boutique…Girls will LOVE it!

Outlets Baby

The Casino Factory Outlet Mall is located on Hwy 61 just before you turn to go to the casinos.  They have some good stores that always have big sales. Old Navy, Gap, Rebokee, Nautica, Factory Brand Shoes

Why Gamble, When You Can Antique?

There are two great antique shops in downtown Tunica (12 miles south of casino area), Main Street Antiques and Ann-tiques. The antique stores are just your typical small town antique stores; kind of high end so be prepared to spend your winnings.

Roll the Dice, Then Hit the Small Ball

Tunica has 3 golf courses in the casino area. Riverbind Links is located behind Resorts Casino and is a par 72, 6,900- yard course. Tunica National is located on Hwy 61 and is owned by the county. It is an 18 hole championship course with a 360 degree driving range. It also has a great clubhouse that serves lunch and has four indoor clay tennis courts.  Cottonwoods is owned by Harrah’s Casino and is located next to the casino. It is a par 72, 7,000- yard course and also has a nice clubhouse.

The River Park

The River Park is located next to the Fitz Casino and is the best place in Tunica to see the Mighty Mississippi.  On the property there is a museum about the history of the river and four aquariums of river aquatic life.  It is not just a typical boring museum it is really interesting and has lots of cool artifacts and images of river.  The Tunica Queen River boat is docked just below the museum and offers two site seeing cruises starting in March through November.  Also there are two nature trails that wind though the woods behind the park and are great for outdoor lovers

Gambling, Gambling, Gambling

There is only one area to hit in my opinion as far as the gambling.  There are three casinos that basically share the same parking lot, so if you head to that lot, you have access to the amenities of all three.  The Horseshoe Casino, Harrah’s, and The Gold Strike Casino are all located together.  These casinos do share a parking lot and are side by side so it is very easy to walk right out of one into another.

Who Needs Vegas?

Tunica is the third largest gaming destination behind Las Vegas and Atlantic City. The nine Vegas style casinos are not actually located in the town of Tunica. They are 12 miles north of the town on Hwy 61 in an area known as Robinsonville.  Downtown Memphis is only 20 miles away. There are also several hotels close to the casinos to stay in. Maps of the casino area and a bio of each casino can be found at www.tunicamiss.com  Tunica is THE place to gamble in the southeast!

Vanderbilt’s Rites of Spring concert, or “Rites” as VU students like to call it, is an annual concert series hosted on campus to celebrate…you guessed it…the start of spring.

It is hosted on Alumni Lawn which also plays host to Vanderbilt Graduation and other large events. It is the perfect area because it is in the center of campus and surrounded by picturesque trees. In the past, Rites has hosted big name bands creating an excuse for students to have a 3-day party instead of studying for finals.
