Looking for a night club where you can also bowl?  Look no further than the Ten Pin Alley in Atlantic Station.  Ten Pin is way better than your normal bowling alley because it caters directly to young people who are looking for a more active club scene.  So make a reservation and come impress the ladies with your splits, 7-10 splits that is!

The Sweetwater Brewery

Georgia Aquarium

The aquarium is relatively new, yet already one of the biggest destinations in the city.  In terms of size, it is one of the biggest aquariums in the world!  It is located in the heart of rejuvenated downtown Atlanta, right around the corner from Phillips Arena and Centennial Olympic Park.  You might think an aquarium trip is for thirteen year olds, but I can say from experience that I had a great time when I went; and I even suggest it as a great date place!  One thing about it though, it is best to get on the website and purchase tickets online, because they let people en

Go to a Braves Game

One of the best things to do on a spring day in Atlanta is to head down to Turner Field (The Ted) and watch the Atlanta Braves in action.  The key to heading down to the Ted is planning, especially for a weeknight game, as it will more than likely conflict with rush hour traffic.  Most evening games take place at 7:05pm, so my advice is to try and arrive by 6:15pm to give you plenty of time to get there.  Sadly, MARTA doesn’t have a direct line to The Ted, but rather has a bus line that takes you from the actual train stop to the stadium.

Shepherd Center Derby Day

An Atlanta tradition since 1981, Derby Day is considered a highlight of Atlanta's spring social calendar, attracting thousands of people each year, as well as hundreds of sponsors.  The event is held on the first Saturday in May to coincide with the Kentucky Derby, and is organized by the Shepherd Center's Junior Committee.  All proceeds generated from the event go to support Shepherd Center's Therapeutic Recreation Program.

A local Atlanta chain, but the most popular Taco Mac's is in the Highlands.  They are open late night and conveniently located between some of the best bars in the Highlands.  Don't let the name fool you, as you can get anything from tacos to burgers to chicken dishes.  Also open late on the weekends for late night meals.

Tin Lizzy's has the best Mexican Food in Atlanta hands down.  They make amazing margaritas, and the joint is always filled with some of the prettiest girls in Atlanta.  If you happen to be in town on a Tuesday night, head over to Lizzy's for 80's trivia, but get there early, as it is slammed.

Dark Horse is a restaurant that turns into a bar at night; it is here where the crowd begins to differ from that you will find in the popular Buckhead bars.  It can be a little quirky, but all in all, a good time.

A real cool Irish pub, with a great patio.  This is probably the most popular spot in the Highland.  It is very similar to Churchill's in Buckhead.  This place gets really crowded, so if you don't like the crowd, head next door to Neighbors.  If you like going to Five Paces and Pool Hall in Buckhead, then you will like Hand in Hand.

The Virginia Highland area is a great change of pace from the Buckhead scene.  Less dancing and much more chill is what you will find in this area.  Also, this area is very "hip", so you will find more eclectic collection of patrons.

Churchill's and Stout's (formerly McDuff's) are very similar in that they are in the mold of the traditional Irish pub.  Both of these places are a little smaller than both Pool Hall and Five Paces, so keep that in mind.  Neither place has live music, but the energy level remains high with a great selection of music on the jukebox.

Five Paces is probably the most popular bar in all of Buckhead.  Get there early, or you will be waiting in line to get in, and have some trouble getting drinks.  Five Paces has two sides, one of which has a stage for small bands to play some good live music, usually every Friday and Saturday night.  The other side is a bit lower key, but still has great energy just the same.  There is a nice sized back patio that is very popular when the weather is nice.  Checkout: Five Paces

Pool Hall is a great dive bar atmosphere where there is no shortage of PBR tall boys floating around.  They have 5 pool tables that are available for use until later in the evening when they cover them with table tops to allow more space for people to sit and hangout.  There is no live music at Pool Hall, so it is a better place to hang out and talk it up with all the young ladies that frequent Pool Hall.

The Atlanta Steeplechase should definitely be a part of your spring social calendar. In its 45th year, the annual event attracts thousands of good looking dressed in their best fratty attire. Held in Kingston Downs, Georgia, a short 45 minute drive from Atlanta, Steeplechase is an all day event of horseracing, tailgating, live music and fun. As Georgia's biggest single horse-racing event, Steeplechase 2010 will benefit the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation of Atlanta and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

SAE Boxing Tournament

 SAE Boxing tourney is one of the oldest and largest fraternity events in the country.

The three day event attracts 3,000+ students from all over the south east. It has been going on annually for the last 28 years occurring in the last week of February or the first couple weeks of March. In 2012, SAE Boxing Tournament is March 8th, 9th, and 10th.  The tickets are $15 a night or $35 for the 3 nights and the proceeds normally raise over $70,000 for charity.

Double Decker Arts Festival at Ole Miss

The Double Decker Arts Festival is definitely the most exiting weekend at Ole Miss in the spring. “Taking its name from the town's authentic double decker bus imported from England in 1994, the festival brings together visitors and residents alike for a daylong celebration of music, food, and the arts held on the picturesque Courthouse Square of Oxford Mississippi.” Double Decker has been known to draw more than 50,000 people in attendance; making it another Mississippi spring day that you cannot miss!

This is the biggest event of the spring at Bama and draws fans from all over the South. It is very similar to going to a Bama game during the fall except for one major difference, everyone everywhere you look is a Bama fan.

Volapalooza is a free concert hosted at Fiji Island in Fraternity Park at The University of Tennessee. This annual event normally takes place at the end of the school year and draws about 1,000 UT students for the night of fun. In the past the All Campus Events committee has been able to bring in some pretty big bands like Ben Folds, Cake, and Dashboard Confessional.

UVA SPRINGFEST 2011 on Nameless field

UVA Springfest is one of the biggest events hosted at UVA each year. It is a huge concert held at Nameless field in late March or early April. They have had some great acts in the past like Ben Folds and Ok Go. They have not announced who they have this year yet, but continue to check back here or post it in the comments if you find out.

Vanderbilt Rites of Spring

Vanderbilt’s Rites of Spring concert, or “Rites” as VU students like to call it, is an annual concert series hosted on campus to celebrate…you guessed it…the start of spring.

It is hosted on Alumni Lawn which also plays host to Vanderbilt Graduation and other large events. It is the perfect area because it is in the center of campus and surrounded by picturesque trees. In the past, Rites has hosted big name bands creating an excuse for students to have a 3-day party instead of studying for finals.

Halloween is enormous in Chapel Hill. The city shuts down the main drag, Franklin Street, and people from all the surrounding towns and colleges descend upon Chapel Hill for a night of debauchery. It is a really fun time as there are often upwards of 80,000 in the streets enjoying themselves.

Every February, people around the world gather to celebrate Mardi Gras

A tradition of parades, masks, beads, dancing, and of course drinking.  With celebrations all over the world, the headquarters for this “holiday” is in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The week long  event builds in size and celebration each day before ending on Fat Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday).
