Mazatlan, Mexico

Mazatlan Overview

Mazatlan is rocking all during spring break. Located on the west coast of southern Mexico it always has amazing weather and a variety of entertainment for every visitor.

Senor Frog's

You may have seen them in other areas of the world, but this one is the original. Senor Frog's is still a little overpriced, but is always a blast. Grab a margarita or a bite to eat and check out the crazy dance floor scene.

Bora Bora

Located in the Fiesta Land complex, this open-air club has raised dance cages, two different dance floors and a huge bar that often becomes a third dance floor. During the day you can also cool off in their pool or find a game of sand volleyball. This is definitely a place where you must spend at least one night. Since it is famous they can pull off the $10 US cover charge.

Sumbara

This is not just a nightlife hot-spot, it can be fun all day. Sumbara is a great place to go and bring all of your friends because they have huge lounge beds that are a great place to relax. At night the music starts blaring and the party starts rocking. They also have a huge pool out back that gets incorporated to all the parties.

Cherry

This is the largest club in Mazatlan. They play all the most popular music with a solid mixture of rock and hip-hop. One of the attractions during every Spring Break week is their theme parties. They have several different ones and top it off with their foam party. Checkout the first minute of this promotional video.

Valentino's

Where else can you dance on a glass floor right next to a cliff? It may sound dangerous, but it is really fun. The building is really cool and looks like a big white castle. If you get tired of dancing, you can make your way up to the second floor and watch the people dance below. A trip to Mazatlan is not complete without a night at Valentino's.

Mexican & American

Obviously, since you are in Mexico, there are tons of delicious Mexican restaurants to choose from. Just pick a place that looks fun to you, order a margarita and you can't go wrong. If you get burned out, then there are lots of American chain restaurants serving your favorites.

Balboa Beach Club & Tower

Balboa Beach Club is totally packed all week with spring breakers. There are mini-suites in the garden area and some more expensive ones that have an ocean view. You are still located right in the middle of the action, but the hotel can be so fun that you may not want to leave.

Costa de Oro

For those who truly want the Mazatlan experience, Costa de Oro is a great place. Located right on a gorgeous beach, this resort offers a plethora of activities for its guests. You can hang out in their huge wave pool or walk to all the best bars.

Hojo/Don Pelayo

This hotel is located across the street from the beach which will save you some money while still positioning you right in the middle of the action. You can walk to many of the main nightlife spots or sit back and enjoy the hotel pool/bar.

  • Mazatlan is rocking all during spring break. Located on the west coast of southern Mexico it always has amazing weather and a variety of entertainment for every visitor.

Enjoy the nightlife. Mazatlán is known as a party city and has an exceptionally good night life. Some popular destinations include Sumbawa, Joe's Oyster, Valentino's, and Señor Frog's. The city gets crazy around American Spring Break when all city is flooded with American students looking for fun. Mazatlán also has a five-day festival (which is purported to be one of the largest in the world) near the end of February.

During this festival, a large portion of the street in Old Mazatlán is closed down and live bands and vendors fill the streets. During the week of Semana Santa (Easter week), Mazatlán is flooded with Mexican tourists from all around the country who are escaping the heat to come to the beach. The miles of beach are literally jam-packed for the entire week. The atmosphere is wild, and you can have a lot of fun, but be very careful.

Surfing. Mazatlán has several prime locations where you can try out your surfing skills. The most popular spot is a beach called Playa Bruja to the North of the city. The waves easily reach heights of 8-10 feet and there is almost always a vendor from whom you can rent surfboards. This is a remote beach that is usually fairly empty. Not only is the surf great, but the lack of annoying vendors makes it even better. Another surfing location is right next to Valentino's (this is the largest landmark in the city). There are several places to rent boards right on the beach, however the waves are not nearly as good as Playa Bruja. content via wiki
