When considering a trip to Memphis, you have to think about the month of May, as this is when Memphis opens its arms to visitors from all over the world for Memphis in May International Festival.  Memphis in May is a full month of events that include a music festival, the Sunset Symphony, and most importantly, the World Championship Barbecue cook off.

The first weekend in May provides three magical days of music on four big stages and thirty-three acres overlooking the Mighty Mississippi, which is right on the heels of historic Beale Street. More than sixty top artists make this event one outrageous party.  While music fest attracts the largest crowd, the Memphis in May Barbecue Festival is the true gem of the month long festival.  World championship teams come from all over the country as this is the biggest barbecue cook-off in the nation.  Nothing quite beats being able to be anywhere within 5 miles of downtown and be able to smell the sweet flavors of slow cooking barbecue.  Wrapping up Memphis in May, the Sunset Symphony is a great opportunity to wind down and listen to “Old Man River” as you watch the Mighty Mississippi slowly roll by.
