Green Beer Day at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio

Miami University in Oxford, Ohio is infamous for it's annual Green Beer Day. It has been celebrated since 1952 and is by far the University's strongest tradition. This event is held on the Thursday before Spring Break each year. Green Beer Day falls on March 1 in 2012.

Bars around the campus open at the crack of dawn for the event. The extravaganza officially starts at 5:30 AM and continues all day and into the night. Students get in line early in the morning wearing Green Beer Day t-shirts to purchase their first green beer of the day before attending class. However, faculty have been instructed to refuse drunk students from attending class.

Green Beer Day at Miami University has become so well known that versions of Green Beer day's are springing up at universities all over the country. Interested in joining the Miami University students for Green Beer Day? Get in the car and head to Oxford. Wear a green t-shirt or purchase an official Green Day t-shirt when you arrive.
