Miami University in Oxford, Ohio has been dubbed the official creator of the Green Beer Day (GBD) which is a day-long party for beer drinkers of all kind. It was been called the most irreverent, long-standing college drinking tradition in the country. First celebrated in 1952, this "biggest tradition" of Miami University continues every Thursday before Spring Break, just to start the break a little early and now to celebrate an "alternative" to St. Patrick's Day. All the beer consumed that day is dyed green with artificial coloring or natural processes.

Bars in Oxford celebrate with the students of the university by opening early that Thursday morning at 5 a.m. Students don't wait long to start drinking. You can find them starting as early as 3 a.m. wearing green T-shirts for some added spirit and the tradition stands to still make it to class!

Can't get better than that - wearing green, being part of a tradition and drinking before and after class.

Check out their Facebook and Twitter pages for more details.
The countdown for the next GBD has already begun.
