Gainesville- a.k.a. 'Gainesville Rock City' in some circles –is the birthplace of bands such as No More and Less Than Jake.  The rock scene is supported by venues/ bars such as Common Grounds (the largest), 1982 Bar, Tim and Terry's and The Atlantic (a dance club on various week nights and a show venue on weekends – call ahead to check the schedule).
