Barefoot Landing is located in the North Myrtle Beach. It is a mixture of little shops, restaurants, and entertainment. All of this is located along a series of boardwalks that cross over a marsh. This is a great place to relax or just go grab a bit to eat and enjoy an evening. It is not where you would go out for a night, don't expect a raucos atmosphere. Highlights include a T Bonz restaurant, the Alabama Theater, and the Alligator Adventure. For more info, see http://www.barefootlanding.com/
Called Beautiful Kenan Stadium (BKS), there is no finer venue in all of college football to watch a game. The stadium is located on the UNC campus and is nestled "between the pines" making it a picturesque setting. With Butch Davis at the helm, the football team is rapidly improving and the fan support is doing the same. The one major issue is the lack of parking around the UNC campus. For a visitor, it is easier to park in one of the off campus lots and ride the shuttle bus into town for the gameday.
Ski Beech is located 30 minutes from Boone, NC. It is a ski resort that offers many different things to do. Highlights of the mountain are several more challenging runs, a tube park that can be a lot of fun, and ice skating for those of you who don’t wish to brave the mountain. This is a fun weekend destination as it offers many of the perks of the mountains out west while not costing nearly as much.
We at MyCollegeRoadTrip would like to congratulate Shaler Alias on becoming the inaugural MCRT "Road Tripper of the week" (and for his ridiculously awesome name). For his hard work, we have decided that indeed, Shaler Alias, will be the standard that other Road Trippers should strive to live up to.
On a rainy Thursday night in April, a crowd of 50+ slightly drunk young men and their beautiful dates board an Amtrak Train in Raleigh, NC...destination Disney World. As stated in Part I of our tale, thanks to a drunken proclamation by a frustrated fraternity member, we have undertaken the monumental task of having our fraternity formal in Disney World.
So a couple of buddies and myself were planning formal for our fraternity. We went to UNC and were looking around at some places that people would be excited about going. Well after "brainstorming" for an entire night at the bar, we landed on a jackpot of an idea. One of my drunker friends, obviously frustrated with the lack of decision, jumped up, kicked his chair across the bar and boldly stated:
Located on the beach, across the street from Oceanside Village, this is one of the best restaurants in all of Myrtle. It has a large deck that overlooks a usually very active public beach. Walk up here for a mixed drink or for their famous shrimp wrapped with bacon (still to this day one of the best things I have ever tasted). It is located within walking distance of the Garden City Peer. For more info, see http://www.conchcafe.net/
If you want a true Myrtle Beach experience, there is no better place to go then to the Nascar Cafe. Go get a few beers, some bar food, play the nascar video games, and enjoy the massive amounts of Nascar memorabilia. It is a good time to be had by all. I mean seriously, if you are in Myrtle, you need to get the Myrtle experience.
