St. Patty’s Day in Baton Rouge
The St’ Patty’s Day Parade in Baton Rouge is one of the biggest St’ Patty’s day celebrations in the country and a great reason to head to LSU for a weekend. The parade starts at 10:00 A.M. on March 14th, 2009 and will be a rocking party all day long.
It begins at the corner of Hundred Oaks and South Acadian Thruway (by the Catholic Life Center); takes right on Eugene; takes left on Terrace; takes final left on Perkins Road and continues down over the overpass ending just under the interstate. All floats continue to roll through the intersection at Lee Drive though the parade has ended.
In typical college student fashion most students spend the day “celebrating” while at the bar. You can stop by Bennigan’s and grab a green bud light or even an Irish car bomb if you dare. The other two Irish Bars in Baton Rouge are Happy Irish Bar and one (Dublin’s) located in the Tigerland Area. Obviously, they will all be packed this weekend and there will be students all over the place. All of the fraternities have great parties this weekend so if you have a connection then that could be a really fun option as well.
