I first had the idea for MyCollegeRoadTrip in January of 2007 on a ride home from a weekend road trip. I realized that there was no way to find out the coolest things for college students to do around my college on any given weekend. That motivated me to begin searching for quality online travel information that was written with the perspective of the traveling college student in mind.

I found that not only was it hard to find information for a weekend road trip, but it was just as hard to find that information about destinations around the world because moms and business travelers authored most of the reviews on popular travel sites. I began talking to tons of students and found that many of them shared this pain when trying to plan trips with their friends.

With this idea and my entrepreneurial aspirations, I began to get the ball rolling on getting the MyCollegeRoadTrip developed. Over the next year and a half I met with web designers, college students, and business executives to continue to refine the idea. In the fall of 2008, the website was built and I got my friends to pitch in their travel stories. This spring my team and I are launching the site and planning to expand it as quickly as possible.
